ABOUT CINDY

Hello! Thank you for your interest in learning more about me and my musical journey. Music has always been a part of my life, but the biggest influencer was musical theatre. Here is a bit of my back story:

I first fell in love with musical theatre at Holy Name High School. From there, I was determined to expand my skills and I landed at Baldwin Wallace College to study music, theatre and dance. In addition to college performances, I became a regular in the local Cleveland theatre scene, corporate entertainment gigs, and glorious summers performing in live shows at Cedar Point. I eventually found myself auditioning for the Cleveland Opera, which led to 17 years as a company chorus member. Although I gave up many opportunities to be a leading lady, those years in the opera provided me with a rock solid foundation in vocal technique and preparation that has stayed with me through today.

So, how did I make the switch to being a solo vocalist? in 2006, I happened to be performing with a 1940’s style vocal quartet for a fund raising event. Also at the event was a group called the Swing City Big Band. At the time, the band leader was in search of a female vocalist and approached me and my friend, asking is we would be interested. We said yes, and…..well…you know the expression…”The rest is history….”

Since that time, I’ve been loving the experience of singing with big bands. The Great American Songbook, jazz standards, swing music, classic pop….I love it all. All of my varied experiences make it hard for me to describe exactly what genre I fall into. Do you really need to fit in only one genre of music? I say no. I sing what I love, what inspires me, what brings joy to others, what stirs memories.

Thank you, again, for your interest and for supporting live music. I hope to meet you at a future performance.
